The Solheim Cup 2026 teams are final. Angela Stanford captains the United States, Anna Nordqvist captains Europe, and the two sides of 12 meet at Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt from 11 to 13 September 2026.

The Americans travel as defending champions after a 15.5 to 12.5 win in Virginia in 2024. This is the first Solheim Cup ever staged in the Netherlands.

Both captains are in charge for the first time. Stanford played six Solheim Cups and was an assistant on the last three American teams, under Pat Hurst and Stacy Lewis. Nordqvist played nine Solheim Cups between 2009 and 2024 and served as a playing vice captain in 2023 and 2024. The squads they built look nothing alike, and that contrast shapes the week.

Team USA Roster for the Solheim Cup 2026

Stanford completed her 12 on 24 August, adding three picks to the nine players already through on the points list and the world rankings.

World number one Nelly Korda heads the team on a 10-5-1 career record. One result still hangs over her: Charley Hull beat her 6&4 in the 2024 singles, and a rematch is the tie most American fans want.

Stanford’s picks lean on Solheim form rather than season form. Megan Khang is unbeaten in her last seven matches, going 3-0-1 in 2023 and 3-0-0 in 2024, and makes a fifth straight appearance. Rose Zhang went 4-0-0 in Virginia. Lindy Duncan is the outlier at 35, a rookie with no LPGA Tour win and the oldest American to debut in this event since Nancy Scranton in 2000.

Depth is the American strength. Only two players carry a losing career record, and Lauren Coughlin has still never lost a Solheim match at 3-0-1. Auston Kim is the only American rookie who qualified automatically, coming through the points list while still chasing a first LPGA Tour title.

Team Europe Roster for the Solheim Cup 2026

Nordqvist named her four picks on 3 August, after eight players qualified through the LET Solheim Cup points list and the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.

Charley Hull and Carlota Ciganda both make an eighth appearance and hold the memory of this rivalry for Europe. Hull has banked 16.5 points from 27 matches, a 61 percent return. Ciganda has 14 points from 25 matches.

Leona Maguire was the experience pick and the record backs it. She is 8-3-1 from three appearances, one of the best win rates on either side.

Lottie Woad is the headline debutant. She turned professional after the 2025 Evian Championship, won the Women’s Scottish Open in her first start as a professional, added the Kroger Queen City Championship in 2026, and qualified automatically from inside the world top 10 rather than needing a pick.

Esther Henseleit took the hard route. She lost a playoff to Shiho Kuwaki at the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Lytham, and that runner up finish lifted her into the LET points places as qualifying closed.

Europe have never played a Solheim Cup on Dutch soil. Nordqvist has picked a young team into a home crowd that has waited years for this week.

Captain’s Picks for Both Sides

CaptainPicksAnnounced
Angela Stanford (USA)Megan Khang, Rose Zhang, Lindy Duncan24 August 2026
Anna Nordqvist (Europe)Leona Maguire, Julia López Ramírez, Nastasia Nadaud, Mimi Rhodes3 August 2026

The two captains picked in opposite directions. Stanford spent two picks on proven Solheim players, Khang and Zhang, who hold a combined 11-5-4 in this event, then made one calculated bet on Duncan.

Nordqvist did the reverse. She took Maguire for experience and handed the other three picks to debutants. Stanford is defending a trophy on the road and wants players who have handled the format. Nordqvist is at home and has bet that young players will feed off the crowd. Sunday settles which read was right.

Rookies at Bernardus Golf

Six players make their Solheim Cup debut, four of them for Europe.

Woad is the only European rookie who did not need a pick. Four debutants in one team leaves Nordqvist with a lot of untested pairings to sort across the four team sessions.

Team USA vs Team Europe Head to Head

Through 2024 the United States lead the all time series 11 wins to 7, with one tie across 19 editions.

YearVenueResult
2024Robert Trent Jones GC, VirginiaUSA 15.5 to 12.5
2023Finca Cortesin, SpainTied 14 to 14, Europe retained

2017Des Moines G&CC, IowaUSA 16.5 to 11.5
2015St Leon-Rot, GermanyUSA 14.5 to 13.5

The overall lead flatters the Americans. Europe have taken three of the last five and tied another, which is why the 2024 win mattered so much to Stanford’s side. It ended a drought going back to 2017.

One precedent matters this week. In 2015 the United States won on European soil at St Leon-Rot by a single point. That is the template Stanford needs at Bernardus.

How Players Qualify for the Solheim Cup

The two sides use different systems, which is why Europe had four picks and the United States had three.

Team USA route

  1. Top seven from the U.S. Solheim Cup points list
  2. Two more from the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings
  3. Three captain’s picks

Team Europe route

  1. Top two from the LET Solheim Cup points list
  2. Six more from the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings
  3. Four captain’s picks

The European system leans harder on world ranking and gives the captain more room at the end. The American system rewards a strong LPGA season more directly. Europe’s window closed after the AIG Women’s Open on 2 August, the American one after the CPKC Women’s Open in late August.

Points Each Team Needs to Win

There are 28 points on offer. Friday and Saturday each carry four foursomes in the morning and four fourballs in the afternoon. All 24 players go out in Sunday’s 12 singles.

Europe need 14.5 points to take the trophy. The United States hold it, so 14 points is enough for them to keep it. That half point gap is the whole strategic difference between the two team rooms.

Solheim Cup 2026 Teams: What to Watch at Bernardus

The Solheim Cup 2026 teams split cleanly along one line: American match play experience against European youth and a first ever Dutch crowd. Stanford protected a winning core and made a single bet on Duncan. Nordqvist handed out four debuts and trusted Bernardus to carry them. With the Americans needing only 14 points to retain, Europe carry the harder arithmetic into Sunday. Pairings land the evening before each session, so check back from Thursday 10 September.
