What to Know Before Bernardus
Europe are at home, in a country that has never hosted. Bernardus is the 20th different venue in 20 editions and the eighth country to stage the match, after the USA, Scotland, Wales, Sweden, Ireland, Germany and Spain.
The record says home advantage matters. Home teams have won 13 of the 19 editions played. The Americans have won only three of nine visits to Europe: Wales in 1996, Sweden in 2007 and Germany in 2015. This is their tenth trip.
Both captains are new to the job. Angela Stanford played on six US teams and was an assistant in 2021, 2023 and 2024. Anna Nordqvist made nine appearances as a player, holds a 17-15-3 record and only retired from competitive golf in late August 2026.
Europe have gambled on four rookies. Lottie Woad, Julia López Ramírez, Nastasia Nadaud and Mimi Rhodes have never played a Solheim Cup, and only Woad qualified automatically. The USA brought two rookies, Auston Kim and Lindy Duncan.
The United States are narrow favourites. Bookmakers price the match close to even, with the American team carrying the higher ranked players. Nelly Korda is world number one and has won four times in 2026, including the Chevron Championship and the U.S. Women’s Open.
Team news is quiet. No player has withdrawn from either side. Angel Yin missed two months from June with illness and returned to competition on 27 August, and she remains in the US team. Lexi Thompson is absent for the first time since 2011 and is expecting her first child.
Pairings are not out yet. In recent editions Friday’s pairings were revealed at the Thursday opening ceremony, Saturday’s on Friday evening and the singles order on Saturday evening. Expect the same pattern, and see our schedule page as each set lands.
The junior match comes first. The PING Junior Solheim Cup is played at Bernardus on Monday 7 and Tuesday 8 September, 12 girls a side, with fourballs and foursomes on day one and 12 singles on day two. Anne van Dam captains Europe, Morgan Pressel the USA. It is the first time the junior event has been staged on the same course as the senior one. Detail on the Junior Solheim Cup page.

Check local listings in Spain and Belgium, where coverage is confirmed by aggregators rather than the broadcasters themselves.
Free ways to follow: hole by hole live scoring on the official site, and Solheim Cup Radio, run by Bernardus Golf with live reporters, which the Ladies European Tour says is available worldwide. Country by country detail is on the how to watch page, and scores land on our live results page.
The Format Explained
Twelve players a side, 28 points, three days of match play.
- Friday and Saturday morning: four foursomes. Two players a side alternate shots with one ball.
- Friday and Saturday afternoon: four fourballs. Everyone plays their own ball and the better score of each pair counts.
- Sunday: 12 singles. Every player on both teams plays.
- Scoring: a win is one point, a halved match is half a point each. A match ends as soon as the lead is bigger than the number of holes left.
- Winning it: 14.5 points takes the trophy. At 14-14 the holder keeps it, which is why the United States need only 14 and Europe need 14.5. Europe retained it that way in 2023 at Finca Cortesín.
Bernardus Golf and Getting There
Bernardus Golf sits in Cromvoirt, close to ‘s-Hertogenbosch, better known as Den Bosch. Kyle Phillips designed it and it opened in 2018, which makes it the youngest course ever to host the match. It is not an unknown quantity, having staged the KLM Dutch Open from 2021 to 2023. More on the layout in our Bernardus Golf guide, and every host course since 1990 on the venues page.
If you are going, the practical rules are stricter than at most golf events. Here is what the organisers confirm.

| Bike | Free rental bike from Den Bosch, about 9 km and 30 minutes |
| Tickets | Advance purchase only. Nothing is sold at the gate |
| Children | Free general admission for ages 15 and under with a paying adult, maximum three per adult |

| Allowed in | Refillable water bottles, small camping chairs, pushchairs, service dogs, phone cameras |

Transport is included in the ticket price but has to be reserved, and the organisers warn it may not be available on the day if you do not book. Prices and the buying route are on the tickets page.
The Story So Far
Karsten and Louise Solheim, the founders of PING, created the match as a women’s answer to the Ryder Cup. The first was played in 1990 at Lake Nona in Florida, where the USA won 11.5 to 4.5 under Kathy Whitworth.
Nineteen editions and 500 matches later, the Americans lead 11-7-1. The biggest win is Europe’s 18-10 at Colorado Golf Club in 2013. The best comeback is the USA’s, from 10-6 down at St. Leon-Rot in 2015. Laura Davies holds the record for most points with 25, and Cristie Kerr leads the Americans on 21. After Bernardus the match moves to Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky, on 8 to 10 September 2028.
Every result is on the history page and every record on the records page.

Solheim Cup 2026 FAQ
When is the Solheim Cup 2026?
Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September 2026 at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands. Foursomes and fourballs are played on Friday and Saturday, then 12 singles on Sunday. The opening ceremony is Thursday 10 September at 5:00 PM CEST and the closing ceremony is Sunday at 6:15 PM.
What time do the Solheim Cup 2026 matches start?
Friday and Saturday foursomes go off between 7:40 and 8:16 AM CEST, which is 6:40 to 7:16 AM BST and 1:40 to 2:16 AM ET. Fourballs follow between 1:05 and 1:50 PM CEST. Sunday singles run from 11:10 AM to 1:22 PM CEST, or 5:10 to 7:22 AM ET.
What channel is the Solheim Cup 2026 on?
Golf Channel carries all three days in the United States, with no NBC or Peacock window this year. Sky Sports Golf has the UK and Ireland, Ziggo Sport the Netherlands, Sky Sport Golf Germany and Austria, Canal+ France, Movistar Plus+ Spain and V Sport Sweden and Denmark.
Where is the Solheim Cup 2026 being played?
Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt, near Den Bosch in North Brabant. It is the first Solheim Cup held in the Netherlands and the 20th different venue in 20 editions, because no course has ever hosted the match twice.
What happens if the Solheim Cup ends 14-14?
The holder keeps the trophy. The United States won in 2024, so 14 points is enough for them to retain it and Europe must reach 14.5 to take it back. Europe retained the Cup on the same rule after the 14-14 tie in 2023.
Who is favourite to win the Solheim Cup 2026?
Bookmakers make the United States narrow favourites, with the match priced close to even. The American team carries the higher ranked players, led by world number one Nelly Korda. Europe have home advantage, and home teams have won 13 of the 19 editions played.
Do Solheim Cup players get paid?
No. There has never been a purse or a winner’s cheque, the same as at the Ryder Cup. Players, captains and vice captains receive travel, accommodation, uniforms and gifts for the week, and no world ranking points are awarded.
Is there parking at Bernardus Golf?
No. There is no parking at the course. Three car parks nearby can be booked in advance at extra cost, each served by a shuttle. Most spectators take the train to Den Bosch and use the free shuttle bus or a free rental bike, both included in the ticket price but reserved in advance.
The Solheim Cup 2026 comes down to three days and 28 points at Bernardus, with the United States defending and Europe at home for the first time in the Netherlands.
We keep this guide current through event week with pairings, tee times, TV listings and results, right up to the closing ceremony on Sunday 13 September. Who writes it and how every figure is checked is on the about page.
