Europe host the United States at Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt from 11 to 13 September, the first Solheim Cup ever staged in the Netherlands. Europe need 14.5 points from 28 to take the trophy back after losing it in Virginia in 2024.

Seven nations are represented. England has three players, Spain, Sweden and France have two each, and Germany, Denmark and Ireland have one each. The average age is 27.5 and four of the 12 have never played a Solheim Cup.
How Europe’s Players Qualified
Europe fills its team three ways:
- Two spots from the Ladies European Tour Solheim Cup points list. Hull led it. Henseleit took second place in the final qualifying week.
- Six spots for the highest ranked Europeans in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings who had not already qualified.
- Four captain’s picks for Nordqvist, one more than her predecessor had in 2024.
Henseleit’s route was the dramatic one. She holed a long birdie putt on the last at Royal Lytham and St Annes to force a playoff at the AIG Women’s Open, lost it to Shiho Kuwaki, and that runner-up finish lifted her past Chiara Tamburlini into the final automatic points place.
Team Europe Player by Player
Charley Hull, England (15-9-3)
Europe’s most productive active player, making an eighth appearance at 30. Hull has 16.5 points from 27 matches, and her 6&4 win over Nelly Korda in the 2024 Sunday singles was Europe’s standout result of that week. She won the PIF Saudi Ladies International in February, reached a career high of world number three, and added a T2 at the US Women’s Open and a T6 at the AIG Women’s Open.
Esther Henseleit, Germany (1-1-1)
Germany’s only representative and the Olympic silver medallist from Paris 2024. Henseleit went 1-1-1 on her Solheim debut in 2024, then finished T4 at the Scottish Open and runner-up at the AIG Women’s Open this summer. She arrives in the sharpest form on the team.
Lottie Woad, England (rookie)
The most talked about debutant in the field and the only European rookie to qualify automatically. Woad turned professional after the 2025 Evian Championship and already has two LPGA titles, the latest the Kroger Queen City Championship in May. She sits seventh in the Rolex Rankings and finished T10 at Royal Lytham, so she is a rookie on paper only.
Maja Stark, Sweden (3-3-2)
The 2025 US Women’s Open champion and the first Swede to win that title since Annika Sörenstam in 2006. Stark is on her third Solheim Cup at 26 and posted another top 10 at the US Women’s Open in 2026. Her ball striking suits foursomes, which is where Nordqvist is most likely to use her.
Céline Boutier, France (7-6-1)
A major champion with a winning Solheim record over four previous appearances, including a perfect 4-0-0 at Gleneagles in 2019. Boutier won the ShopRite LPGA Classic in May, coming from four shots back on the final day. With Hull and Ciganda she forms the experienced spine of the pairings.
Carlota Ciganda, Spain (12-11-4)
At 36 she has played 27 Solheim matches, more than anyone else in this field, and is on her eighth appearance. Ciganda is a matchplay specialist who regularly plays above her stroke play level in this format. Her 2026 has been lean, with missed cuts in the last four majors, so Nordqvist is backing the record rather than the form.
Linn Grant, Sweden (3-6-0)
A third appearance and the least flattering record in the team, 3-6-0 with no halved matches. Grant went 3-2-0 in 2023 but lost all four matches in 2024, and fitness problems cost her time early in 2026. She swept LET Rookie of the Year, Player of the Year and the Order of Merit in 2022, so the ability is not in question.
Nanna Koerstz Madsen, Denmark (1-1-1)
Back for the first time since 2021, when her only Solheim win came in fourballs alongside Ciganda. Koerstz Madsen has just three Solheim matches behind her, the smallest sample of the eight non rookies, but she made the cut in all four majors she entered in 2026.
Leona Maguire, Ireland (8-3-1)
The best win rate in the team at almost 71 percent and the easiest pick Nordqvist had to make. The first Irishwoman ever selected for Europe, Maguire went 4-0-1 on debut at Inverness in 2021, a rookie points record for either the Solheim Cup or the Ryder Cup. Now 31 and on a fourth straight appearance, her 2026 best is a T2 at the Aramco Championship.
Julia López Ramírez, Spain (rookie)
World number one amateur in July 2024, now 23 and making her debut as the second Spaniard alongside Ciganda. She has five LPGA top 25 finishes in 2026 and made the cut at the AIG Women’s Open, though a first professional win still eludes her. Pairing a rookie with a compatriot who has 27 Solheim matches behind her is the kind of arrangement captains like.
Nastasia Nadaud, France (rookie)
At 21 the youngest player on either team. Nadaud won the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open by four shots in November 2025 and made the cut in all four majors she entered in 2026, with a best of T22 at Evian. She admitted she would not have believed six months ago that she would be here.
Mimi Rhodes, England (rookie)
The last name called. Rhodes, 24, won three times on the LET in 2025, at the NSW Open, the Joburg Ladies Open and the Dutch Ladies Open, and took Rookie of the Year. Her first LPGA season has been harder, with missed cuts in three majors. She played in the PING Junior Solheim Cup in 2019 and called the selection “beyond anything I imagined”.

Nordqvist takes the captaincy for the first time at 39, and she arrives with nothing else on her plate. She retired from competitive golf after the FM Championship in late August 2026, ending a career that brought three majors across three different decades, a feat no other non American woman has managed.
As a player she made nine appearances from her 2009 debut in Chicago, won 17 of her 35 matches and was on four winning teams. She was also a playing vice-captain in 2023 and 2024 under Suzann Pettersen, so she has been inside the team room for the last two editions and knows these players as team mates rather than names on a ranking list.
Anne van Dam is the local addition. A five time LET winner from Arnhem and part of the winning 2019 side, she also captains Europe in the PING Junior Solheim Cup on 7 and 8 September, the first person to hold both roles in the same week.
On the pairings, Nordqvist has called the process a “puzzle” and described the squad as “a great mixture of experience and personality”, with four rookies who bring “a sense of fresh air and aggressive playing styles”.

Nordqvist had four picks rather than three and used the extra room to go young. One veteran, three debutants, and a third of the team on debut once Woad is counted.
The case for it is the venue. A European home crowd is the setting in which an inexperienced player is most likely to play above herself, and Nordqvist has treated the atmosphere at Bernardus as an asset rather than a risk.
The case against it is arithmetic. Foursomes and fourballs need eight players per session, and pairings work best when one half of each has been through it before. With eight non rookies available and Koerstz Madsen lightly tested, some debutants will have to play together.
Angela Stanford read the same week the opposite way. She brought back eight of the 12 who won in 2024 and spent her three picks on Megan Khang, Rose Zhang and Lindy Duncan.
Team Europe Solheim Cup 2026 Records and History
The United States lead the series 11 wins to 7 with one tie, having taken the trophy 15.5 to 12.5 at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia in 2024. Before that Europe had gone unbeaten since 2017, winning at Gleneagles in 2019 and Inverness in 2021 and retaining the cup with a 14-14 tie at Finca Cortesín in 2023.
Home advantage is real. This is the 10th Solheim Cup played in Europe and the United States have won only three of the previous nine, in Wales in 1996, Sweden in 2007 and Germany in 2015.

There are 28 points on offer, one per match. Europe must reach 14.5 to win the cup. The United States retain it with 14, because they are the holders.
